Some "homework" from Heidi!

For those of you attending Heidi Swapp's April 1st class, here is your pre-class "homework" assignment in a great message directly from Heidi:

So, you are in the Friday Night, "Happy Thoughts" class at Scrapbook Island... i can't wait!

This will help you get ready for class:
I remember a time that felt like a bit of a low point – I was wrapped up in things that didn’t matter, and not putting emphasis in the right places, or seeing my blessings. I remember being on a run, and listening to a song by Cheryl Crow “Soak up the sun”. When I listened to the lyrics:
“it’s not about getting what you want..
…it’s about wanting what you’ve got”
I realized that this needed to be my focus.
Shortly thereafter, I read a quote that went like this:
“if you can’t be happy with what you have…
…how can you possibly be happy with more?”
This project is about bringing these 2 messages into one place that you can open up and look at and be immediately filled with thoughts of the best parts of your life! The parts that are real, and still make you happy:

1.     wonderful memories

2.     beauty of daily life

3.     things you are grateful for

4.     and that which you cherish most

The Parisian Anthology album is perfect for this project, because it allows you to start somewhere, with a set of beautiful papers…and build on it. There are 20 sheet protectors in that book, full of pockets and places to tuck stuff- but this book isn’t only about photos, I want to give you some things to think about and write about before you come to class.  So grab a notebook, and just write some short answers to the following questions.

If you would like to come equipped to add photos to this album, bring 10-12 photos that represent happy thoughts, or happy memories!

  1. List 10 things that make you happy
  2. List 10 things you are most grateful for
  3. Write about something that made you laugh
  4. Write something happy about each member of your family- could be a memory, or an aspect of daily life- anything works here
  5. Remember the time you were happiest, and why
  6. Jot down a quote that inspires happiness to you
  7. List small, simple things that make you happy!

These will get you started.
We’ll see you Friday night!
We’re going to have a great time together!

Meet our new Design Team!

A big thank you to ALL that submitted to our first design team call.

The submissions were fabulous, making the decision process extremely difficult! So difficult, that for this first time only, we decided to choose 8 design team members instead of 6. If your name is not on the list this time around, we encourage you to reapply for our next Design Team call!

Prepare to be inspired! CONGRATULATIONS to Scrapbook Island’s new Design Team members!
